It comes home tomorrow. I will drive ~1000 miles between getting to my friends place, gathering a borrowed Nissan Titan XD from his work, a Uhaul trailer, and our motley crew of tools to extract a fiero gas tank on our way to the Fiero itself. I’m having scotch tonight to celebrate/pre-game. Prepare yourselves, Oppo...

My girlfriend is excited for this project because we’re going to dress up as an obnoxious 80s Yuppie couple and do Radwood in it.

Me! I’m excited to live vicariously through you - I have thought about buying a Fiero multiple times as they’re cheap as hell. A couple years ago you could pick up a running and driving one for $1500 around here. I’ve owned 80's GM cars before though and they were bad quality and reliability wise. Combine that with the complexity of mid-engine and I couldn’t convince myself to buy one.

Fiero: The best platform for a fake Ferrari - ever!!!

Mid engined cars aren’t complex - they’re front engined cars turned around. The 4 cylinder fiero uses the iron duke so it’s relatively reliable and it’s stupidly roomy in the engine bay thanks to a lack of steering components. You can see every component that needs to be serviced.
I’m getting pretty amped for this whole shebang.

If I drop in a circle-track build of the iron duke, I can outrun ferrari 360s and maybe even the 430. Why be fake, when you can be *better*

Can’t wait to see more posts about this! Safe travels too! Also for future reference how much is it to rent that car trailer?

65$ for a one day rental with 10,000$ insurance on it. I tried renting one closer to the car, but they charged a minimum of two days so it came out to 110-115$ vs 65 if I rented closer to home

That’s not bad really. Cheaper than paying for it to be shipped I’d imagine.

You could grenade 100 of those engines before you’d come close to the cost of a new ‘Rar i engine
